Our Mission:
Our mission at Abilities First is to provide people who face developmental challenges and their families support to attain independence, self-determination, integration, and acceptance by others through education, exploration, and experience.
How We Make an Impact:
“Our son, Michael, has been supported by the Abilities First (AF) community for over 20 years. He started in the early intervention program, progressed to the pre-school program and then school-age program, where he was a student until he was 21. He is currently in adult day services. AF has enabled Michael to be an integral part of his community to learn, develop, build on his social skills, and experience independence. We are grateful that throughout the different phases of Michael’s life, AF has been with us, offering guidance, support, and programs.” – Dimitri & AnnaMarie Dolgov
Giving Opportunities:
Our schools and programs are in need of community partners, support, and leadership to ensure that quality-of-life enhancements are available to those we support. Financial support is welcome in the form of individual gifts, sponsorships, naming opportunities, as well as planned gifts. To donate: abilitiesfirstny/donate or call 845.485.9803.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Since 1962, this mission has been lead by a group of dedicated employees along with a volunteer Board of Directors entrusted to secure its longevity and vitality. Community members are invited to participate in volunteer event fundraising committees with the opportunity for possible Board leadership.
