OUR MISSION
We believe that it is the right of every individual in Ulster County to have programs and services available to help them achieve their greatest potential.
HOW WE MAKE AN IMPACT
The United Way of Ulster County (UWUC) has been serving the community since 1954. The organization prides itself on being a community partner and responding to emerging community needs. While United Way is a national brand, UWUC is an independent 501c3 run by local staff and Board of Directors with 100% of program funding and policy decisions made locally.
The purpose of UWUC is to seek solutions to community problems by performing regular services; developing new and/or expanding or modifying existing human service programs to address these identified needs and/or gaps adequately; facilitating specific needs and/or gaps in services; evaluating programs and partnerships to assure positive outcomes; and developing, as fully as possible, the financial resources, both public and private, needed to meet the human service needs.
Our programs serve the most vital needs of the most vulnerable people in our community. We must remain as resilient as the people we serve to shift our assistance to match their needs.
Our current vital service areas are based on direct contact with our community: speedy prevention of houselessness and emergency funding (rent, utilities, etc.), youth programming, to grow and sustain local nonprofits by offering administrative and educational support, and community programming geared towards opportunities available for solutions to individual stability.
